It influences lipid metabolism and the properties of the myelin sheath around nerve fibres. It is essential for both normal connective tissue metabolism and brain cell function.
Copper deficiency causes anaemia, reduced growth and fertility, nervous system disorders and cardiovascular diseases. Copper deficiency causes general weakness, reduced normal tissue respiration, skin ulceration and hair depigmentation.
Cobalt occurs in the body mainly as vitamin B12, which is essential for red blood cell formation and influences nervous system function.
