It is particularly effective against methicillin-susceptible (MSSA) and methicillin-resistant (MRSA) staphylococci. It inactivates a number of viruses (including HIV, HSV, RSV, VSV and Rabies Virus). Chlorhexidine digluconate is able to accumulate in the epidermis, so the product has a prolonged effect (up to about 3 hours), destroying micro-organisms living in the deeper layers of the skin and released into gloves during surgical operations.
