If hoof horn lacks the correct nutrients, problems such as cracks or brittle, fragile hooves may occur.

The most important vitamin for hoof growth and repair is biotin, a member of the B vitamin family. It is water-soluble and, although abundant in good grass, is poorly available in other feeds, so ongoing supplementation is recommended.

The supplement is additionally enriched with silicic acid.
