Probiotics for dogs - a way to improve your pet's health

Probiotics for dogs are microorganisms, such as bacteria or yeasts, added to food to regulate intestinal flora. They are also defined as microbial dietary additives that benefit the body by improving its intestinal microbial balance. Enterococci are among the most widespread components of normal canine intestinal flora, supporting their use as a supplement to a balanced diet. Enterococcus Faecium SF68 (strain NCIMB10415) are bacteria that can effectively limit the growth and adhesion of enteropathogens, including enterotoxigenic E.coli, salmonella, shigella and clostridia. They are therefore a useful nutritional aid in diarrhoea treatment. Research conducted by J. Benyacoub confirmed the long-term effect of Enterococcus faecium on the immune system of young dogs. Enterococcus Faecium has also been shown to benefit immunity in puppies after weaning and maintain it in later stages of the animal's life.

Prebiotics for dogs - additional protection for bacterial microflora

Prebiotics for dogs are indigestible food ingredients whose beneficial effect lies in selectively stimulating the growth and/or activity of one or a limited number of bacteria in the large intestine, thereby positively affecting health. The beneficial effects of prebiotics on health are based on their role as a substrate for microflora in the large intestine, benefiting the overall condition of the digestive tract. Studies have shown that supplementing the diet with prebiotics such as fructooligosaccharides (FOS) and mannanoligosaccharides (MOS) increases beneficial bacteria and reduces populations of harmful bacteria. FOS administration increased bifidobacteria numbers, while MOS reduced the resistance of pathogenic bacterial colonies.

Pectin - better intestinal function

Pectin is a highly fermentable dietary fibre. Microbes in the colon of dogs and cats carry out its bacterial fermentation. Together with short-chain fatty acids, such as acetate, propionate and butyrate, these are an important source of energy for the cells lining the digestive tract. Analysis of the effects of short-chain fatty acids on intestinal morphology showed that these 3 main acids stimulate intestinal absorption of sodium and fluids. Butyrate has also been shown to be the preferred energy source for colonic epithelial cells, accounting for approximately 70% of energy consumption, while acetate significantly increases blood flow in the colon.

Glutamine - improve your dog's or cat's immunity

Glutamine plays an important role in maintaining the immune system, digestive system and muscles. It also indirectly participates in the development of intestinal epithelial cells. The effects of digestive upset on intestinal cells can increase the body's need for glutamine to replace the cells lining the intestine.

Dosage:
Give directly into the mouth for up to 5 days or strictly as directed by a vet. The product may also be mixed with food.
Puppies and cats: 1-2ml 2 to 3 times daily.
Adult dogs: 2-5ml 2 to 3 times daily.
