During short periods of very intense exercise, horses lose significant amounts of fluid through sweating. They also lose electrolytes in the ratio 2(sodium):2(chloride):1(potassium). Scientists have shown that horses running distances of 1 to 2 miles (1600 to 3200 metres) can lose up to 10 litres of fluid through sweating. We therefore recommend the horse electrolytes available in our range.
